Don't you love the new year, full of fresh starts? One of my favorite things to see each year is the new Pantone Color of the Year pick. This year it is Greenery. This fresh mid-toned yellow-green is the color of grass, which goes with anything and brings to mind the first days of Spring, when nature renews. Think about -- grass, leaves and greenery are (just about) everywhere, making it nature's neutral!
As I did in 2014, I've prepared a Copic best match to this year's Pantone color selection and prepared this graphic for you. Since digital media differs greatly between monitors and platforms, I've given a range which *I believe could match*.
You can find the full range of Copic's Yellow-Green markers available HERE at Imagination International Inc.
And here's a project I created, using some of these pretty greens (and blues and pinks!):
I thought this adorable Pink Ink Floppy Bunny would look cute sitting in some pretty Spring grass. This is how I colored him:
I stamped him in soft Memento Gray Flannel ink (as opposed to black) onto Essentials by Ellen 100 Lb. Smooth Bristol cardstock. To keep him mainly white, I used Copic N0 and N1 grays to give him some shading. R000 and R00 were used to color his ears, nose, cheeks, hands and feet.
To give his ribbon a little dimension, I stamped another one separately, colored it with B21 and B23, cut it out and adhered it in place.
To make the grass, I used darker YG25 to flick and draw in the grass line behind the bunny and extending to the right, past his leg. I also flicked some green up onto bunny's leg, to give the illusion of him sitting in real grass. Then I used lighter YG03 to soften the line and extended the color downwards, again using a flicking motion to create the look of blades of grass. B000 was airbrushed around bunny, to create a sky.
After die cutting the colored bunny with a stitched circle die, I popped him up over a soft blue watercolored sky background. The sweet "Love you" sentiment is from Pink Ink's To The Moon sentiment. Just the top part of it was inked and silver heat embossed onto a stitched banner die cut. Clear sequins scattered on the background complete the card.
I think this year's Greenery color will be very easy to work with and makes a wonderful fresh start to the new year! What do you think? Like or not?
