Welcome to the My Favorite Things July Release Rewind - Day 2! I hope to inspire you with more ideas for those new July goodies you've purchased and are patiently waiting to be delivered or to help you finish up your shopping, if you are still on the fence about anything! For me, it’s a chance to (catch up on my scrapbooking again--yay!) and use some of the new products that I may not have had the chance to show you yet that are available right HERE, right NOW in the MFT Boutique! Direct links to all products used on my project today can be found at the bottom of this post.
My family took a quick mini vacation the end of last month and this was one of my favorite photos of the trip -- especially since I didn't get a very good photo of my girls with their Dad on Father's Day ... I wanted this one to do double duty for this 8-inch scrap page!

When I first saw the awesome new Square Grid Coverup Die-namics, I thought it would work great for a photo mosaic look and it did not disappoint! Since the Square Grid Die-namics is a solid plate, I die cut a scrap piece of cardstock to create a template so I could easily see to get the placement correct on my photo. After finding the perfect placement, I marked just outside the corners and centers of each side so I would know where to place the die:
I also cut a piece of Berrylicious cardstock with the Square Grid and centered/adhered it to a 5.50" x 4.25" piece of Smooth White cardstock. Next, I removed each square of the die cut photo and reassembled the photo on the grided cardstock so the mosaic would be totally flat:
Next, I die cut Orange Fizz cardstock (which matches my husband's shirt in real life -- my camera just didn't think so under my studio lighting!) with both the Square Grid Coverup and Bright Lights Alphabet and placed the negative squares over the left three squares of the photo. I love that you can still see the water through the letters!
For the lower half of the page, I used the Grid Stencil over Primitive Cream cardstock and sponged Natural Premium Dye Ink through it ... I love the illusion of texture it creates!
I used the AWESOME new Tag Builder Blueprints 1 for my journaling tag embellishment -- I LOVE that peek-a-boo circle of holes that allow another color to show through OR so you can use it for hand stitching (like I did on my July calendar page)! The hole reinforcer, star, Natural banner and tab die cuts are also from Tag Builder Blueprints 1. The June word is from Accent It-Months of the Year Die-namics:
The "S. Padre" and "Beach" words were created with the Negative Dot Alphabet -- I love that the letters fit perfectly on the little banners from Blueprints 17.
To finish off the page, I die cut Berrylicious and Black Licorice cardstock with the little star die from Tag Builders and made a trail of stars on the upper left corner of the page. An accent strip was created with Peek-a-Boo Chevrons and Pierced Fishtail Flags:
Another Pierced Fishtail Flag was used at the bottom of the page for some journaling, using a Copic Sky Blue Atyou Spica Glitter Pen and a row of Black Licorice dots (the center from the tag hole reinforcer) were added to the bottom left corner of the page.
That’s it for me today … Head on over to the MFT Blog for a complete list of the other designers who also have projects to share on today’s Release Rewind. I hope you have a fabulous weekend and THANK YOU again for your very sweet comments over the past week of release projects and posts – I always love hearing from you!
