For the hop today, I created a Christmas ornament, using Want2Scrap’s Nestaboard Lacey Ovals as the sturdy base. Here’s the front (left) and back (right) of the ornament (click on any photo for a larger view):
First, I painted the Nestaboard with a combination of vanilla and pearl acrylic paints, to give it more of a vintage/aged look, to match the patterned papers I used. The Nestaboard took the paints very well, with no warping!
Next, I used Spellbinders Classic Oval Nestabilities Large Die 5 to die cut the green patterned paper behind the Santa image … a perfect fit!
JustRite’s Classic Large Oval Blizzard Bunch Santa image was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto Copic’s X-Press It Blending Card and colored with these Copic markers:
(I will have a stepped-out Copic coloring tutorial tomorrow for this Santa image, if you’d like to check back then … today’s post was getting a little long!)
I used Spellbinders Classic Oval Nestabilities Large Die 3 to die cut Santa and Large Die 4 to cut the oval sentiment. Normally, I would have used the next size larger (Small Die 5) for the sentiment, but I wanted more of the green background paper to show. That's the great thing about Spellbinders Nestabilities -- you can always find just the right size of die you need!
The final touch to the front was Want2Scrap’s gorgeous Lacey Ovals All Silver Nestabling -- love those rhinestones in a perfect scallop shape! Alternately, you could easily cover the Nestaboard with patterned paper, by using Spellbinders Lacey Oval Nestabilities dies that match perfectly with the Want2Scrap line of products!
For the back side of the ornament, I die cut a Rudolph the red nosed reindeer (Santa can’t get very far without him, can he?!!) using Spellbinders Fanciful Holiday die set, by strategically placing the die on patterned paper to automatically give Rudy his red nose and eye! I used JustRite’s Times New Roman 25-pt Font and Clear Mini Sentiment Stamper to date the ornament and then used the classic oval Nestabling from the same Lacey Ovals set I used on the front.
