Here's the coordinating altered project to the Father's Day card I shared with you yesterday ... all finished! My husband desperately needed an updated picture of our girls for his office, so I chose this favorite from our trip last summer to St. Johns, USVI.
This project was inspired by a challenge on Splitcoaststampers.com amongst all the current and alumni Dirty Dozen designers, to make a project that screams "school is out for the summer" ... anything to do with the beach definitely does that for me! A required element for the challenge was mini brads and a restricted element was buttons. I used mini brads to anchor the scalloped velvet ribbon in place.
This is a 7"x9" wood frame from Michael's, covered in more coordinating paper from the Imaginisce Summer Cool collection that I used on the card. I used Mod Podge to adhere the papers and ribbon to the frame, and then gave all the papers a protective top coat of Mod Podge as well.
I used the coordinating stamp center to the "Happy Father's Day" border from JustRite's new 1-5/8" Favorite Occasions Borders & Centers (that I used on yesterday's card) which says #1 Dad for the top left accent:
Stamped with Memento Rich Cocoa onto Neenah Natural White cardstock and colored with these Copic markers:
I die cut the center with Spellbinders Classic Circle Nestabilities and matted it with Pinked Circle Nestabilites, cut from WorldWin Dark Terrific Teal cardstock. Again my custom lighter BG000 was used to color the background behind the trophy.
For the lower half circle embellishment, I chose to die cut some ice cream scoops from coordinating paper for the center and played off that to make my custom wording:
Again, I used JustRite's 2" Wood Stamper and bonus 15 pt Font to spell out "Your Sweet Girls ..." because this size stamper fit well with the ice cream image. To find the right sized wood stamper you need, just place the image you'd like to embellish on different sizes of JustRite Stampers until you find the correct size that lets the letter channel around the outside show well:
Notice the 2" Wood Stamper has purple rubber on it and the coordinating correct size of font is purple as well. JustRite is coordinating these things for you, to make it easier to choose which products work well together!
I selectively inked the words with Memento Dew Drop ink pads:
And then die cut everything with Spellbinders Classic Circle Nestabilities. Pink gemstone crystal accents were added.
Here's a photo of the coordinating set, now that it's all finished:
I hope hubby likes it and I hope you all have a lovely Father's Day weekend! If you get a chance, I hope you'll play along in my sketch challenge over the weekend (see two posts below this one).
