My bad back last week threw a wrench into my 12 Inchies of Christmas plans . . . so here's the last one I've worked up for you. A new winter-themed tic-tac-toe set for my girls. You may remember the one I did for the CLASSroom, using a CD tin. This one is very similar, except I just used the lid to the CD tin and then put a "header" on it, to make it a little prettier and so it can hang on the refrigerator!
Here's a look at the back of the header -- I put some of those heavy duty business card magnets (that I've shared with you before) on the back of Craft-a-Board that I cut with Spellbinders Scalloped Long Rectangle MegaNestabilities:
The front of the Craft-a-Board is covered with Memory Box Winterberry paper that I stamped with JustRite's Curlz & Times New Roman fonts. When designing custom-made wording, I like to use the space I'll be working with as a guidline. So I chose the die I wanted to work with and then adjusted the wording on my JustRite Harmony Rectangle Stamper to fit:
A stamp positioner made sure of proper placement of the words onto the patterned paper, and also by allowing me to add that missing letter "T" that I was short. I really like the whimsy of this Curlz font -- it's so playful! I stamped with Memento Rich Cocoa ink and then added some shadowing with Copic B000 & accented it with Clear Copic Spica Glitter Pen.
The header was adhered to the top back of the CD tin lid with an aggressive liquid glue. The playing pieces were stamped with Karen Lockhart's Itty Bitty Snow Buddy & Mittens onto Inchie Arts White Inchie Squares and colored with Copic markers. The snowballs were accented with Star Dust Stickles and the mittens were accented with Gold Spica Glitter Pen.
Inchie Arts Inchie Magnets were applied to the back of the Inchie Squares, so they would stick to the tin:
The inside of the tin was lined with more Winterberry patterned paper -- love this snowman print!
Wright's white baby rick-rack was glued in place to finish off this game that I hope my girls will have plenty of fun playing with! Being in the kitchen on the fridge, I can stop and play a few games while preparing or cleaning up meals!
I hope to be back tomorrow with that Christmas Eve project I promised!
