Most of you probably know I love working with a pre-determined sketch -- more than half the work is already done for you and I really like the challenge to see if I can find just the right products to complete the design.
If you don't happen to know about CPS (Card Positioning Systems), they post a sketch every week on Sunday. So come play along. I love this week's sketch -- squares are some of my favorites . . . and scallops, oh my!
My card is 4.25" square, so it will still fit in a standard A2 size envelope. Another side challenge to this week's sketch was a baby-themed card, so I chose these papers from BasicGrey's Oh Baby line. I geared this card more towards a baby girl because another teacher at school is due with her first baby -- a girl, in the next few weeks!
The adorable focal image is Gina K's latest Stamps For A Cause stamp set, How Sweet It Is. $7 from each stamp set benefits The American Diabetes Association and the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. The set is very versatile -- you can see all the stamps in this set and find out a little more about Gina's cause by clicking on the colored text above.
I stamped the stork with Brilliance Graphite Black on Curious Iridescent Cryogen White cardstock and then cut the image with a Spellbinders Nestabilites Classic Square. While the cardstock was still in the die (after embossing), I masked the stork & baby and airbrushed the sky with Copic Sketch marker #B000-Pale Porcelain Blue. The rest of the image is colored with Copics, too. The image was matted with some pink cardstock from this same BG line and mounted with foam tape to the card. The layer underneath the stork is cut with the largest of the large set of Classic Scalloped Squares -- it measures 4".
The darling little button accent is another Spellbinders die from the Timeless Heritage (S4-014) die set. There are three different button sizes in this set and this is the largest -- I just didn't emboss it, to give it all the detail.
Ribbon is Stampin' Up's pink taffeta.
